Victoria Beckham Fashion Icon 2018

If you grew up in the 1990's Victoria Beckham nee Adams was a household name. While we were singing in the bathroom with our hairbrush microphone, this Posh Spice was transforming herself from Spice Girl to Fashion Style Icon.

For Victoria the rise to fashion's highest mention has been a long journey with many memorable outfits and style reinventions. From the days of Spice Girls where monochrome palettes and sleek hair ruled, she had even then made a statement. From the film "Spice World" the most famous line from that movie was Mel C telling Victoria to wear  "the little Gucci dress, the little Gucci dress, Or- the little Gucci dress" We knew at that moment Victoria was bound for fashion greatness.

Beckham made a guest appearance on the catwalk for Maria Grachvogle on February 17, 2000, making her debut as a model at London Fashion Week. She also acted as a British ambassador for Dolce and Gabbana and was briefly the face of Rocawear. She first designed a limited-edition fashion line for Rock & Republic called VB Rocks in 2004, consisting mainly of jeans. In 2006, Victoria walked the runway for Roberto Cavalli at Milan Fashion Week, and was for a period exclusively dressed by him for red-carpet and social events.

Beckham has graced countless fashion magazine covers during her career. Her first Vogue appearance was February 2004 for her solo Vogue cover for the Spanish edition. This was followed by Vogue India, Vogue Paris as well as the British, German, Russian, Australian, Turkish, Taiwanese & Chinese editions. She has also graced various international Harper's Bazaar and Elle. Here is her very first solo Vogue cover and her most recent October 2018 edition.

Beckham's label was launched in September 2008 in a low-key presentation. By 2011, it had grown into a fixture of New York Fashion Week! Known initially for its dresses, the line expanded into separates and luxury handbags. Alongside the main fashion line, the Victoria Beckham brand still includes separate denim, eyeware and fragrance lines. This line would not be complete without a line of eyeware, in 2006 Harper's Bazaar Victoria admitted to a personal love of sunglasses, saying "I'm quite obsessed with sunglasses. I collect vintage Guccis and Carreras. They can make virtually any outfit look cool." Nowadays, when Beckham steps out you hardly ever see her without a pair of sunny's.

Victoria Beckham had made the transition from novelty to respected designer, citing her editorship of French Vogue and her participation in a panel discussion with the dean of Parsons design school in New York. In 2018 her collection was presented at London Fashion Week instead of at New York Fashion Week as normal.

Sunday November 11, 2018 Victoria was honored with the Fashion Icon Award at the People Choice Awards and accepted her prize in true Beckham fashion, wearing a chic all-white blazer - and - trouser ensemble.
During her acceptance speech, she thanked the firefighters who were working tirelessly to help battle the devastating California wildfires, and gave a call to all others like her who dream big - referencing a lyric from the Spice Girls "Wannabe". "I always told myself, 'Dream big and then dream even bigger.' I wanted to show that if i can do it, anyone can do it. And what you can achieve really can be limitless," said the singer and fashion designer, 44, adding with a signature Girl-Power peace-sign hand gesture, "I can't help it - if you really, really want it, okay?"

Congratulations Victoria Beckham on being the 2018 Fashion Icon!

The 46th annual American Music Awards took place last night October 9, 2018, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The show opened with a bang as Taylor Swift performed "I Did Something Bad" making it clear she was back, and she did not come to play!
For the second year in a row the show was hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, best known for her role in the comedy series Black-ish. Tracee is known to not hold back on anything and  her opening number proved just that! She performed choreography as well as vocals during her musical medley. Featuring music from Queen B Beyonce, Childish, Gambino, Cardi B and many more.

It was definitely made clear that women ran the night, as Taylor Swift and Camila Cabello led the night with four awards each! Taylor broke her own record for most wins by a female artist.
Camila Cabello won 4 out of the 5 categories she was nominated in: New Artist of the Year, Best song in Pop/Rock,Best Collaboration

To close the show, the AMAs did the most amazing tribute to the iconic Queen of Soul and Gospel Aretha Franklin. Aretha passed away this August leaving her legacy to be loved and shared by millions!
Last night Gladys Knight performed a touching rendition of Amazing Grace. Following Knight minister and gospel singer McClurkin belted out "Climb a Higher Mountain". From there gospel singer Winans sang a very touching version of "Mary Don't You Weep" Finally Mary Mary took the stage with their rendition of "Old Landmark"

5 Minute Hair

Hair Trend Alert!

We are so excited for this '5 minute' fall hair trend. The slicked back wet look is all the rage this season, and the Kevin Murphy Body.Builder is the best product to achieve this look!

Work that body and boost your hair with flexible fullness and hold. Create smooth, big shapes by layering  BODY.BUILDER, a weightless, moisturising, volumising mousse which will build beautiful body without fear of crunch.  Don’t be afraid to keep adding, the more the merrier, with the end result being gorgeous flexible fullness and hold.

The main ingredient, Citrus Recticulata (Tangerine) Peel Oil  is full of antioxidant goodness and vitamins, which not only protects against stressors, its delicious scent helps stimulate the senses too. This hardworking essential oil also helps to create intense shine while Vitamin B5 helps to bind moisture into the hair.

When it comes to fall essentials look no further!

Our most desired fall must haves are here and better then ever.

A clean and flawless base is key this fall. Try our 'Mineral Liquid Powder Foundation' which is a full coverage foundation. This formula goes on as a liquid but sets to a silky powder that retains a youthful fresh glow, there in no need for setting spray or powder!

Flawless skin looks amazing with a subtle highlight. Use a large brush and apply a light finish of 'Illuminating Powder' (shown here in 'Peach Bronze') all over the face focusing on cheek bones and temples to amp up the youthful glow.

Eyes are luxurious and intense. We love our 'Liquid Eyeshadow' which applies as a cream using the build in wand and sets to a beautiful rich shadow. Try ‘Aurora’ for your daily go-to.

Lipstick is pigmented and rich in tone this season. One of our favourite fall formulas is our 'Liquid Lipstick' which are a cross between a pigmented lip colour and a sheeny gloss. Try our most popular fall shade, 'Mink Pink'!

Makeup Monday

We are unveiling the hottest fall makeup trends from NY Fashion Week

As we say goodbye to New York Fashion Week for another year, the makeup trends we saw on the runway for fall were amazing. The trend is minimal, but just enough to make a statement. Here are a few looks we absolutely love for this season!

We adore this look from the Brandon Maxwell show!
Keep the look low-key with just a pop of red for the lips. Try our AW03 Liquid to Matte lipstick in Ruby, as well as the Duo Action Highlighting Pencil to enhance the cupids bow on your upper lip. Finish the look with lashes of our Volumizing Black Mascara. Effortlessly chic!

Add a touch of sunshine to your look with a pop of yellow on your eyelids.
With this look from the Noon by Noor show, leaves skin au naturel with a vibrant yellow shadow swiped across the eyes imperfectly.
When creating this look groom your natural brows, apply our Eye Primer, then use the AW03 Metallic Gold Addict Shadow and swipe across the eyelids. Finish with a slick of our Platinum Lip Glaze in Blush giving you a natural lip, with shine and hydration!

Alexander Wang was all about minimalistic beauty that makes a statement! All you need to keep your skin fresh and glowing is the
AW03 Brightening Day Moisturizer and Pressed Powder Illuminator. Keep those cheek bones in check with sharp contouring and just a touch of colour using our AW03 Sunkissed Frost Blush. Finally add a very light pink gloss to give this look a touch of pizzaz with the AW03 Platinum Lip Glaze Girl Crush.

This is the perfect evening look with minimal effort! Cushnie Et Ochs brought the berry lips to life. In order to create this beautiful look apply our AW03 Liquid Eyeshadow in Eclipse as a wash over your eyelid and then Volumizing Black Mascara to give lashes flair. For the final touch you will use our Liquid Lipstick in Uncorked to get that perfect berry red tone.

Fashion Fridays

Although we are sad to see summer ending fall is in the air, which means fall fashion! There is something so exciting about new collections, fall boots and fabulous jackets.
We consulted our fashion team to find out what to look forward to!

Here are some of the new upcoming trends.
When thinking about trends no need to go crazy, just add a piece or two to give your look a fall 2018 update!

The oversized jacket
The menswear inspired blazer is a must! Amazing to dress up paired with a long skirt, sweater dress or even over the shoulders for the evening. Try dressing it down with a logo t-shirt, jeans and little booties.

The logo t-shirt
Rock it with your favourite jeans and blazer or pair with cool sweat pants and high heel pumps.

The quilted bag
There are so many things we adore about this one....the colour, the detail and the quilted leather effect you will see everywhere this season.

The ankle bootie
Toes are pointy, boots are sleek yet relaxed at the same time. If there is one type of footwear to add this fall the bootie is it! Perfect with jeans, longer skirts or fitted dresses. You name it, it works.

Animal print jacket
Animal prints are huge and an absolute must have. This one piece is a statement that updates everything you wear.

White shoes
White is such a fresh take on footwear this fall. Try these with a simple pencil skirt, patent leather pants or sassy sweats. Pumps with a difference.

Large gold earrings
Large and bold is where it's at. Hoops are classic, timeless and work with everything.

Pleated Skirt
This is a great piece for the season. Wear with slouchy boots, a longer blazer, tuck in a t-shirt or dress up with a crisp white shirt and sky high pumps.

High waisted leather pants
The jeans of the season. High waisted is happening and so flattering. Pair with pumps and a logo t-shirt, sneakers and a fitted sweater or booties and a fab coat.

Some great ideas to kickstart your fall wardrobe!
Add a piece or two to rework your closet and pair pieces differently to add a new life for the season!
